Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and television actor known for her performance as the spirited attorney Teri Joseph on the Showtime series Soul Food. Nikki Kodjoe is her new name after she married. Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland she showed an inclination toward acting since childhood and received an award for the best Actress award at a Maryland high school competition. After working in theater and with 'The Washington Ballet Company' she received a master's degree in acting from 'New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love, her first role in a film of major importance, was a huge success and earned her the admiration of many. Later came films such as 'Boogie Nights Spark & Blue Streak. Soul Food, her TV show was greatly praised due to her performance. Also, she appeared in TV series like Second Time Around 'and Empire. Earlier in her career, she appeared in several stage productions. Parker is married to Boris Kodjoe, an actor and model. They have two kids together.

Contractor is a Mumbai-born Indian living in Nigeria from the time she was just seven years old. She had a lot of knowledge about different cultures around the world and was able to travel even at a very young age. She attended boarding schools from the age of 7 to 9 in London. After that her family moved back home to Toronto (Canada) which is where they lived for the rest of her childhood. Contractor was a wonderful student in Toronto and trained to be the classical ballet dancer. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts. It is a special school for arts and sciences, in which she didn't just study theater but danced as well. Contractor was inspired to pursue acting seriously at age 16 after almost 10 years of dancing. After she completed high school with a full tuition scholarship to University of Toronto where she studied theatre with a double degree in psychology and Sociology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having been a student for a year and auditioned in an open audition for Pericles which was held at the highly acclaimed Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canada] and won the part. The year 2002 was a great one for her. Canadian reviewers praised her performance during 92 performances of the play. The opportunity was presented to her to join Stratford Conservatory, which allows only eight males and four woman to take a course in classical theatre. Contractor eagerly accepted. Contractor was offered a place for the next season, and was offered the part of Hermia.
